Long story short, I'm doing a long- term project for school, and I'm going to be doing an instrumental album, which will probably suck, but... I'm probably going to do half covers, half original songs, so what would be some other songs that weren't written as instrumental, but I could do? I'll be playing lead parts instead of the vocals, and I'm already doing Johnny B. Goode, and might try and pull off a Michael Angelo Batio like- version of crazy train.

Johnny B. Goode- respect!

Something different- maybe the Bert Jansch version of "Angie"? It's instrumental already (and it rocks).

EDIT: Or Red House!

Many songs work as instrumental versions, quite a lot of surf bands do it.

Orion or To Live is to Die by Metallica?

Descend the Shades of Night by Machine Head is also very good, although it's not originally an instrumental song it would work pretty good as one I think.

I'm listening to the SRV version as we speak... omg omg, etc.

Always hits the spot.

It reminds me what type of music I primarily play and why. tr00 bl00z track this, better than the original imho.
