^ Urm Tool, Led Zep, Hendrix, Rush, Rage Against The Machine, Coheed and Cambria, Ritchie Kotzen the list goes on...

Huge list really. Thats why I was wondering if there was a site that described the characteristics of each speaker.

I've never really found one that describes abunch of speakers. But check out

The eminence site, and the Celestion site.

Two popular speakers are Greenbacks, and Vintage 30's.

Greenbacks would be like a Zep/Hendrix more 70's crunch. and if you get a high gain amp with them you can get in that Ltae 70's early 80's high gain crunch.

Vintage 30's handle high gain better. But IMO don't sound as creamy. Im sure someone here will have a link.

In general, Celestions and Jensens are some of the best. Epi uses Eminence speakers alot, which ppl like. Celestion Greenbacks probably would work for anything i think.

Coheed uses Vintage 30-loaded Mesa oversized cabs i think, so id go with that since they sound awesome. Claudio has EMG 81/85's, uses a Zakk Wylde OD into a JCM800 or 900 head fyi.

Do you play rush and coheed and cambria in the same set? That would be the most eclectic crowd in the world.

I would go with Celestions mate

Behold...the Arctopus are obviously music. I don't see how anyone could say they're not music compared to many modern and post-modern composers. That being said, I think B...tA are terrible.

I have V30s already... maybe what I have is the best... if mesa use them in there cabs then they can't be too bad eh. lol.

Thanks guys, I'll try some out if I get the chance.

^^ I tend not to gig so much as Jam with random folk. It's simpler that way

they have soundclips on the eminence site... celestion have some clips too.

generally speaking:

classic rock: greenback

mix of classic rock and slightly more modern stuff: g12H30

vintage tones: something alnico

modern: v30

really modern: that k12 100 watter celestion has.

i think. i haven't tried all of those, bear in mind. plus as usual it's personal preference.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
