i was thinking about getting a 1x12 or a 2x12 and for the most part i was wondering which ones you guys think are better...

a carvin legacy 2x12

or

a mesa 1x12 ?

since they would pretty much cost the same i was wondering which one would you pick?

Mesa is more hard rock/metal, the Carvin is a bit lower on the gain. Their both really good though.

depends. like the other guy said, mesa is metal, carvin is lower on the gain.

steve vai=carvin

john petrucci=mesa

both very good amps. i would recommend trying both and seeing which one you like better. once again, both are a great buy

Do you want a cabinet or a combo?

If you want a cab, I'd go with the legacy 2x12 because of it's good price.

If it's a combo, I'd have to know which boogie in specific you're interested in before I could make any statement of which is better.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

i was going for a marshall jcm 800 so the carvin vs mesa was purely cab wise.

but ya i really like the v 30s on the legacy cab, ima go to a dealer and try one out.

The Carvin cabs are very small, very focused. Great for a hard rock and percussive metal sound.

compared to a 1x12 mesa cab, the carvin would probably sound fuller despite it being undersized.
