I wanna get the head but its 120 watts. I play live but I'm thinking it might be too much for practicing in my room. What do you think?
#2
it would be MEGA LOUD, and you'd have to keep it below 1
Downsize maybe? or buy a practice amp

attenuator
it helps yuo saturate the tubes at a lower volume
its a simple

a 5 watt practice amp would be cheaper though

It'd still be retardingly loud.
Get a cheap practice amp to.

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

the JSX will have plenty of pre-amp gain so you can crank them and get the OD sound

i agree with the idea about teh practice amp
and i take back the attenuator idea
an attenuator for 120 watts would be rediculously expensive
but i heard peavey's gain comes from the pre amp
so it should sound passable at low volumes
but if you're gonna be gigging with it
i dont see why you shouldn't get it
#10
Nono its not just a practice amp. I gig as well. It'd be a geat size for the gigs but I'm wondering if It'll still sound ok at lower volumes. I played it at guitar center with volume on 3 and it didn't seem to bad and it sounded great but they had music blasting.
#11
it should sound fine at lower volumes
and since you're going to gig with it
i say its a good value
#12
If you can afford an awesome huge amp, get it man, since whens guitarring been about being sensible? Turn it the hell up and have a great time!

From what I've read the JSX sounds pretty good at low volumes, which can't be said for a lot of tube amps. I'm planning on buying one in the next week.

well if your going to go through a 2x12 why wouldnt you just get the 120 watt 212 combo? anyways, i tryed the combo in the store and it had surprisingly good gain at low volumes, also it has a selectable half power switch so you could always run 2 tubes and get at good low volume sound.

Ah yes, you have a condition that many guys live with and are affected by everyday. It's called a penis.

get a classic 30 combo with a good od pedal if u need gain

much better investment, especially for practicing

Why when he can keep the volume at 1 and get a good sound from it?

because the jsx has sick cleans and really tight agressive distortion

go for the jsx combo if youre worried about being too loud. you can run it at half power and then kick it into the full 120w if you really need it
trust me, its plenty loud, i dont usually go above 3 at home on master volume and thats still enough to piss off the neighbors
Austin Les Paul rip-off that sounds really nice

Okay, I have my JSX through a 4x12 in my room at this moment. It goes as quiet as any other amp. People saying that it will be loud no matter what don't have a clue what they're talking about. It sounds great no matter what, but it's not at it's potential very quietly. BUY IT! It's an amazing amp.

I don't have a JSX, but I do agree with everything said.
