Want to know how to play bass in jazz? Read this.
^ Sort of related to that, when I have two bars of a ma7 (let's say C) in an uptempo swing thing I sometimes like to go C Cma7 C6 Cma7, only altering one note at a time.
(Slightly outdated) Electronic and classical compositions by m'self: Check 'em out

modal jazz ftw!

then just mess around with scales that fit over those, ie, ionian, lydian, phrygian dominant, etc
