Alright so right now i want a guitar for a raised action and alternate tunings, so i dont have to mess with my Mustang every time i want to play slide.

Right now im think either a Dobro Hound Dog Acoustic-Electric or a squier tele or something like that. So which do you guys think i should go with? any other recommendations?

Edit: Budget is $400

well, you could, you know, get a lap steel or something. otherwise, yeah, the Danelectros may work for you. Jimmy Page used one for slide during live shows.

Or, any P-90 equipped guitar would probably work well.

Something single coil or p-90 equipped would be best IMO. Has more bite and cut for the cool slide sound.

Teles are good for slide but Esquires are even better IMO. If you get a Squier tele I say take out the neck pickup and rewire it to Esquire specs.. It will get rid of the magnetic pull from the neck pickup and give you a bit better sustain and the neck pickup will be out of the road for slides right up over the end of the fretboard. And you will have the extra 'dark' and 'twang' positions aswell as the regular Tele bridge config.

I been thinking about doing the same thing and buying a Squier or MIM tele/esquire to put a higher nut in and use for slide in open E.

I'm just starting to try learning slide and all my guitars have uber-low action so its crap to use a slide on.

to TheDev01dOne:

That doesnt sound like a half bad idea. If i ever stumble across a cheap rosewood fretboard tele (highly doubt it), i will probably do all that/
