Hey there

I was loooking into buying a used Telecaster MIM for around $200-300

Is it worth it?

I need a guitar that I can play Arctic Monkeys, The Hives, The Dead Kennedys, and other stuff of the sort on.

I need a punkish guitar with a high biting and crunchy sound, but I won't pay $400 for a Mexi Tele, no way.
With the humbuckers on my V, there's no way I can get that tone : /

Of course I only have 2 pedals. I have saved around $200-350 depending on next check.

I don't want the best quality parts. I don't want a USA tag. I just want the Tele Sound, and playability.

Having a good throw-around guitar that I won't bust my balls dinging would be nice (not that I'll be stupid with it).

So, Tele or pedals?

And is the Tele even worth it to begin with?

yea. a p/up change might give u some better sound, but Teles are good for Indie (hives guitarist uses an Arctic White Tele all the time), and can handle some distortion, not insane amounts tho.

If its used then no more the $275...

I have one and I love it to pieces, I really like the tone tho I have never played the kind of music you like I'm sure it will do just fine...

^that was unnecessary. we didn't ask for your opinion. he only asked:

is it worth it? or should he buy pedals?.

i have a fender mexican telecaster and i love it to death. but i mostly play classic rock type stuff on it.

it can handle some distortion but not that much as the other guy said, but i assume it would be good for the type of music you are talking about.

i would definetly go for the guitar on this one.
