once again my guitar is covered in blood, not happy. it seems when i play fast and heavy for a while (about 2hrs or so) my pointy finger on my pic hand decides it wants to start bleeding at the nuckle. i used to think "playing till your fingers bleed" was a myth
is it something that happens to people alot and if anyone has any idea how i can stop it then let me know
the pic theif strikes again

just wrap your hands up when you play.

it'll look cooler, and you can say "yeah, play till I bleed. bitches."

But seriously, I would think that if you're knuckle constantly bleeds all over your guitar, that you should just cover the offending knuckle up with something

Why is you knuckle bleeding? Your knuckle shouldn't be hitting the string.

+1. That sounds like a technique issue.

Yeah I'm still confused about the knuckle thing. Do you like fret with your knuckle?

He's so metuhl that he punches the guitar to play chords.

None of that gay picking for this hardass!

Yeah I bleed when i strum when playing live for a long time because my strumming angle means I sometimes hit the sharp bridge on my Epiphone LP. You get used to the pain and it goes away. Grow some resistance

But seriously that is M3T4L!!! Not.

Just try to control your picking hand. I used to have the same issue when playing live, getting too carried away, and grating up my right hand knuckles on the strings. The solution is pretty simple; pay attention to your playing, and make sure that it's only your pick that's hitting the strings (it will sound better too, but of course it won't look as cool without the blood).
#33
Yes its a technique issue. My fretting hand's index finger's knuckle used to go against the strings as well and it didnt start to bleed, but over the months it grew a callousse on it. Having your knuckles going against the strings could help you keep your picking hand oriented but really you should try to avoid it. I stopped using my knuckle to touch the strings and im happy with my technique now, its a bit harder to do fast tremolo picking but not having my knuckle get sore is worth it!
#34
Try changing your technique so you don't scrape your knuckle on the strings (I assume you're doing it when you're really attacking the guitar?). Also, moisturise your hand mate, it'll stop it splitting so easily.

I agree, you shouldn't be hitting your knuckle on the strings. I play really hard onstage and I do scrape the knuckle of my index finger now and then, once every few weeks, but never to the point it bleeds. The fingernail on the index finger does get worn off on one side from playing, but that's about all the damage I ever cause. You might be choking up on the pick too much, or just plain trying to play too hard.

Work on your technique, try to keep that knuckle from hitting the strings.
Hmmm...I wonder what this button does...

Aye, that's the common one. I do it everytime I play a gig, quite often cutting myself in the process. My backing gutarist had to stop playing at the last gig because he did that and needed to stop it bleeding over his strings haha.
