my sister is getting married soon, and would like me to read something at the wedding, but i'm yet to find something i'm entirely happy with, so i thought i'd ask you guys for ideas. something wedding suitable that isnt all lame and sappy and cliched.
my name is matt. you can call me that if you like.
make some small jokes, talk about life with her and what you expect, and just make a nice conversation with the people there.i'm guessing your not nervous because you probably know the people there,so no worries.
ohhh, sorry, you misunderstand. i'm not planning on doing a speech or anything, i'd suck at writing a speech, probably. the intention is to read a poem or something. i was looking for suggestions for an ideal poem.

Birth by Cécile Cloutier

Perfect from the start
That small cell
The wrinkles and death
Of an old man.

Compare that with marriage. I think it's beautiful. Other than that...
just go on weddingpoems.com (there must be a site like that surely!) and take something

what about this (someone posted it on the S+L group):

In an effort to get people to look
into each other's eyes more,
the government has decided to allot
each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it
to my ear without saying hello.
In the restaurant I point
at chicken noodle soup. I am
adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long
distance lover and proudly say
I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn't respond, I know
she's used up all her words
so I slowly whisper I love you,
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

Bit political maybe, but still great..

I really have no idea :s
