ok this is like my 3rd thread tonight so sorry for posting a lot but this one is serious

whenever i drink something cold, usually milk, if the drink comes in contact with my tooth (bottom tooth, 2 to the right) then i get a horrible pain for about 2 or 3 seconds. it hurts bad. i thought it was going to go away the first time it happened (about 4 or 5 days ago). but it has persisted. anytime i drink something cold i get it. i read about it and the site i went to said a root canal may be necessary?? has anyone had this? is it really that serious?

I had something like that. I used a special toothpaste that's meant to treat sensitivity. It worked for me, but if you use it for a certain amount of time and it doesn't go away, then you should go see a dentist.

I had that too. It was becasue I was using tooth paste that makes your teeth whiter, but it would kill something in your teeth that keeps them from becoming too sensative

There's an advert on telly for toothpaste to help sensitive teeth, can't remember what it's called, Google'll probably help

Sensitive teeth suck, I'm unable to bite ice-cream because of mine, I try and use special toothpaste for sensitive teeth, but it doesn't work, I'd see a dentist to be honest.
#9
I think I got it from using whitening toothpaste too, and I only had one or two teeth that were sensitive. Maybe it has something to do with the way you brush, or just that tooth was more prone to sensitivity to begin with. Either way, I would try the sensitivity toothpaste, and stop using the whitening stuff.

Yeah you'd think, all I know is once I stopped using it and used regular toothpaste it got better. Sometimes one will be really sensative for a week or so and then go back to normal. Maybe it's just going through a sensative phase

it could be your toothpaste, or it could be chipped ever so slightly. either way, its prolly best if a dentist looked at it. he/she could recommend you something for it at the very least.

I had this for a while, and I thought it might be a cavity or tooth decay on the spot that it hurt, buuuut, I went to the dentist and they told me to stop bitching and use sensitive toothpaste for a month.

The same thing happened to me. Although it was because I chipped it slightly. It stopped after about 4 days though. See a Dentist!!

Go see a dentist
they'll probably recommend you use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth such as Sensodyne (if you're in the UK at least, which i doubt you are)

it's only one tooth then it's probably a cavity.

I have a sensitive front tooth, I've just started using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and it seems to have improved a little bit. But I feel your pain, I can't drink or eat anything cold, even with a straw
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

-Matthew Arnold
