Right, the old, half broken behringer mic in my rehearsal room just isn't cutting it for me anymore and i decided i need something new.

Now, as always, i don't want to spend alot and also i'm a complete noob when it comes to mics

I know that most people would suggest this http://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_sm58.htm but its still kinda pricey for me.

Is there anything do-able for cheaper, or is the shure just better for the money?

Thanks folks!

EDIT: It's for hard rock vocals
EDIT2: suggest something from here http://www.thomann.de/gb/mics_for_vocal.html

Isn't it worth to save up a little extra to get a good mic that you'll never need to change after that? That's how I think when I buy stuffs, I don't have alot but I have good **** (Except for the acoustic, but that was the first thing I bought because I didn't know if I was going to stick with guitar playing).

I don't like recording with dynamic mics for vocals.

Do you have phantom power?

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

Oh it's for band practice.

A dynamic will be fine.

phantom power is an extra 48v thats available in the PA system for condenser mics (ones that need power to work)

an SM58 is a good mic and you'll have no problems with it

i'm assuming you're using this for vocals btw?
