I... I should return to Arkham.

I have come home to Arkham.

Swallow the Sun, Daylight Dies, Dark Tranquility, Paradise Lost, Agalloch, Nest (not metal but pretty damn epic).

Any Doom or Sludge.

The best type of slow metal is slam death metal. Its a huge breakdown full of insanity.

Something being slow doesn't always make it doom...in the same way that something being doom doesn't mean it has to be all that slow.

Listen to Pentagram. Really, there is loads of non doom stuff that is way slower than them. Most of their songs are mid-tempo.

Metal can be slow without being doom, but doom isn't up-tempo. Ever.

And are also incredibly awesome. I recomend every one goes and buys Cemetery Earth, right now. I'm quite surprised that someone else here has heard of them, actually...
But yeah...the idea that doom is always slow is fucking retarded.

If you're into something slower, but has some thrash influence, listen to Type O Negative. If you're one of those kids who likes Cradle Of Filth...Well...Half of their discography sounds like a rip of Anathema, played faster.
