ok, i got an epi g-400 and i wanna paint it hot pink w/ some black accents or possibly just hot pink and electrical tape it. problem is, i don't trust myself with a heat gun and i don't have the tools, know-how...so i was wondering how much would it cost me to go into a shop and get this done? how long would it take? is electrical taping it a good idea? the color is already black so should i just put tape over hte places i want to keep black and spray paint, take off tape and put on a protective coat or something? ideas please

and spray paint isn't a good idea unless you spray about 20 coats over it

'nuff said.

Though for the record, I took a cheap all-black Epi LP Junior once and simply sprayed it hot pink with car paint right over the top without stripping off the old finish, just a few layers followed by a few layers of car acrylic clear coat, and it looks fine and has lasted no problem. But then that was only a £60 crappy little thing that I barely touch, it's not like it's subject to much wear and tear so it stands to reason that even a cheap crap finish like this would hold. I can't imagine it'd last terribly long if I actually ever played it for more than three minutes every six months though.

good luck finding someone to do it for you
most luthiers are too busy/cant be arsed
look for pricing in like auto body repair shops..they might do it if anyone would

if i were to guess id say 300 bucks, but thats just a guess
they'll deffinetly overcharge you.
