Not sure what this technique is called. Its basically used in almost all metalcore songs.

an example would be

------------
------------
------------
-----------
--------7--------6------4-------7-------8-8-------10-10
--8-8-----8-8-----0-0---0--0----7-7-------0-0------------
.. . . . . . . . . . .

Heh dont try to play this cause i just wrote notes on the top of my head so i doubt it sounds good. But for that technique, where you basically play a pedal/root note then you keep hitting other notes. What is that technique called =(?

Anyway i was wondering how i can perfect the sound on that, i use loads of distortion and it all sounds good but id like the notes that arent muted to be clearer. Is this something new pickups would fix, perhaps some minor adjustments to the amp settings. Any advice would be helpfull.

I'm not sure if that has a name at all, but the reason why the notes are muffled could be becasue of your amp settings. Don't scoop out your mids, use lots of mids! They help the guitar cut through nad make everything sound clear.

I've heard it being referred to as a spider walk, although I don't know if that's the same thing.

i've always just called it a riff, seeing as it's not a solo, and it's not a chord progression (i don't give a **** about what you call a true riff)

i'm not quite sure, i used to have that, but i think it's from not letting the palm mute go quick enough. keep practicing and muscle memory should help.

turns cold to the touch by bleeding through is great to practice with.

It's something that a combination of learning to EQ and learning to play properly will solve.

If you're having issues it's either down to daft amp settings or sloppy technique.
Actually called Mark!
