^ Yeah, I had to read that twice. I think he means the "mystique" was built by Page and Beck, not the guitar.

Haha, for his sake I hope that's what he meant. Otherwise he'd look pretty foolish.

There have also been fake Squier and Fender bass scams on eBay, with most of the fakes coming from China and Thailand. £2000 ($4100) basses being sold for £300($620).......

The best thing on eBay is to ask for the guitar's serial number, then if they refuse, don't buy it cause it is most likely a fake.
#7
haha who would bother making fake Squiers?

How to spot a fake:

Cheap inlays

Check the control and pickup cavities. Sloppy routing indicates a fake.

Sounds like a real Gibson to me.

Guitar should be undersized. Check with Gibson for measurements.

The guitar should apparently be smaller than it's supposed to.

And if they make up a serial number?

So true. This guy I know who owns a Guitar/ Guitar repair shop said he got a Les Paul Custom in to fix once and he said the nut wasn't even cut! and that was just one of many things wrong with it.

There's a Suffolk in the US.

They copy all our names for things..

I'll bet there's some Newcastle-under-Lyme in the middle of Texas.

Blasphemy!

It's on Long Island, New York!

It's where the famous and equally British named Hamptons are located, amongst other things.

**** the Hamptons, everyone thinks Long Island kids are spoiled rich brats because of them. No one around the area of this story's location (The man lives in Centereach) lives anything like that.

Probably the fact that British people named the places...? It's called logic, not "stealing." And people say Americans are ethnocentric.

TS, where are you from in Suffolk?

You...accused Americans of stealing British names...so yeah, I guess one or two of you are. At the same frequency that Americans are, and any other country.

Yeah, pretty much everything here has either a British or Native American name.

And I'm in Bay Shore, another wealthy LI community...
