is it not strange that todays indie 'stars' like pete docherty are more hardcore than any hard rock or metal musicians?. In the 90s all the grunge dudes were taking heroin and doing crazy stuff not its the indie kids. What metallers are still taking drugs, or are throwing tvs out of bedroom windows?

Pete Doherty Indie? No. Alternative maybe. Pete Doherty is a disgrace to not only music but to mankind.

It's probably just Pete Doherty in the indie "scene"... maybe Kevin Barnes of of Montreal too...
Most of them chew with their mouths tightly shut, so yeah, they're nice...
Metalheads maybe aren't as crazy as before... but they drink a ****load of beer and Jack Daniel's, so I'm sure they do some hardcore ****.

I'd like to see Doherty in a fight with ANYONE. A 12 year old girl would be the best.

there's a difference between being hardcore and being a junkie.

Aye.

Although i like some of Petes work.

I guess the riff Kerry King has been using for 20 years isn't too bad either.

doesn't bother me, since when did you need to take drugs to fit in with a certain music genre?

I listen to music because I like it not because of the artists personal life/problems

I too would like to see this.

Here, here!

Well, being hardcore doesn't really mean doing drugs and stuff. That's being stupid. I mean, don't get me wrong. I pop the occasional pill or smoke some green, but I do it cause it feels good, not cause it's hardcore.

Being hardcore is more about. Well, if you YouTube (not gonna link, it's got porn) Primal Concrete Sledge+Zakk Wylde.

Doing stuff like that is pretty hardcore IMO.

I would like to see Pete Doherty dead. End of story. Although with his lifestyle that could be in a couple of years.

I'd like to see Pete Doherty versus Corpsegrinder in a fight to the death.

Just tell corpsegrinder doherty is alliance and he'll slit his throat.

Totally agree. Kurt Cobain was even more hardcore than metal artists.

What's more hardcore than shooting up and blowing your head off with a shotgun?

Meh, I thought the Pete Doherty bashing was going to an end, but obviously not. He's talented. It's a shame that people rely on tabloids instead of actually doing some research on the matter. He's a junkie, that's for sure, but so is at least 20% of everybody's favourite bands.

hmm, i do be disagreein with ya thar. how many indie rockers out thar sacrifice humans on a regular basis?

indie rockers arn't hardcore, they stand in the same place and play 4 chords on a tele for an hour, and then go and have a WKD and get pissed off it.

hardcore is when you can go on tour, smashed off your face, and still play amazingly, Lemmy's over 61 and is still more hardcore than all of the ndie kids

i hate the word hardcore. it really segregates genres even more and gives ppl stuck up images of themselves

hardcore ppl tend to be so predictable, and slightly ignorant. they often seem to have no varity in tastes.

thats not all, but alot of 'hardcore' ppl.

i think hardcore is doing what feels good. like after that concert earlier this year...

Don't care. Some people obviously need other things to put in the place of their genitels.

HAHAHA NICE, im with ya man!.. okay but not all indie rockers just stand in one place but considering how mundane the stuff they play is it doesn't exactly take a lot of talent to run around a stage while playing!

Your right man Hardcore is about getting a bit wasted and tearing it up onstage while going mad!!!

I have to say tho I lot of the better metal/hard rock musicians I know take themselves WAAAAAAAAAAAY too seriously/get geeky about playing live, its not uncommon for a modern metal/hard rock band to bitch about band members having a few beers before a gig!!! LOL!

I think of anything underground. Because indie is not a genre, simply an adjective...

Okay, I'm fed up with all the Pete hating. So the mans life isn't exactly going to plan, no need to call him a disgrace to mankind. Saddam was a disgrace to mankind, and he killed an entire village. To put Pete Doherty on the same level is an insult. I suppose you've never tried something you've regret? It's harder to get out of habits for different people, and for that, I think he should be supported not hated.

Thank you.

There are two things in this thread that I hate: the Pete hating and people's ignorance towards Indie music. Few people in here realize what a broad genre Indie is. The Kooks, Razorlight, The Fray, Whatever =/= Indie Rock or Indie Pop. If you're going to bash a genre, at least get your facts straight.
