I headed to the local Guitar Center the other day to browse, and checked out some guitars, namely a few Standard Series Fenders, a American Series Strat, and 3 Flying V Faded's.

On all of these guitars, the neck felt like a cheese grater. My Epi is much smoother.

Have Fender and Gibson forgot how to glue in/file frets properly?

Strangly, I've never seen this issue discussed here, yet it seems to be a huge problem.

There have been threads in this and other forums about the poor quality of especially Gibson's fretwork these days, but despite these complaints and their incredibly high prices they're still selling guitars, so they must be doing something right...
