Ok guys, my guitar teacher proposed a deal to me. MY Roland Cube 30(not X) for his Crate XT65R.

Good Deal?

Heres links to both amps:

Roland Cube 30:

Crate XT65R:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Crate-XT65R-65W-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=487780&src=3SOSWXXA

I know My cube has effects and the Crate only has reverb, but I only really use Reverb anyway(and obviously distortion)

If they can't take advantage of you sexually, they'll do so by other means.

In this case, trying to get your amp.

wow didnt expect that. I like the tone better on the Crate.
Heres what I see for comparing:
Crate has a 12" speaker |||Cube has a 10" speaker
Crate is 65 watts |||Cube is 30
Crate has a effects loop and an external speaker slot |||Cube has neither
Crate has more knobs for shaping your tone |||Cube doesnt

Pros for Cube: Effects(which I dont use)

Keep your Cube. I played a Crate XT65R at a Guitar Center a year ago when I wanted to replace my Marshall MG, and it was even worse then Marshall.

Crates aren't bad, depending on the model. But the cubes are definitely better IMO.

^ no the cube blows the crate out of the water

That's your opinion, let the TS have his own. We all have different tone taste.

wait for it
wait for it

DUH!!!

I never said they still do.

They stopped making them a year ago and musicians friend dropped the price by like 100 dollars and got rid of the rest.

the XTR's and the FXT's are the the same base except FXT's have
16 built in effects 1 clean and 2 gain and a speaker output instead of an AUX input
the XTR's have Reverb thus the R

the gain and clean channels sound the same on each of the two amps
the gain gives ridiculous feedback and hum and is monotone. It sucks.
the gain 1 and gain 2 are the same except gain two is louder.

They WERE both made for musicians friend. As in only sold at musicians friend.

I bought my FXT in summer '05

Keep your roland.
Obviously you think everone here on UG doesn't know what we're talking about when most of us do.

In the end, if you want to do it, do it. If you don't, don't.

simple

most of the advice here is don't

My personal experience says don't

I had a crate fxt 120, I later got a roland cube 30x also, I sold the crate.

Nobody gives a rats' ass about wattage.

Just because it's loud doesn't mean it sounds good. I've seen a 600W combo amp that was about 3 and a half feet tall. Portable, 600 freaking watts. Sounds great, right? $150. Something's not right here.

Sounded like total ass.

Stick with the cube, Roland > Crate.

Great list Rutch. On re-reading this one I'd have to say Solid State means not liquid or gas.

I figured it out.

Not a problem.

Just FYI, 90% of UG prefers the cube over the crate.

But that doesn't mean you will.

We're just suggesting you keep the cube, it will probably last longer too.

yup, but also, many UG'ers like to say information that they "heard" and they actually havnt tried it.(not saying you havn't or anything, just saying in general)

UG'ers are also very Bias. No arguing with that :-P
