It's exactly what it sounds like. Presence is how much is present.

Volume is the presence of volume...if that makes any sense.

Bass presence is how much bass is present.
Effects presence is how much of the effect is present.
Blah blah blah.
You get it?

It's something to control how bright or fat your tone is going to be.

To get the same effect, boost the mids and cut the bass for a full presence, or vice versa for a cut presence.

Okay, just to make sure you understand...

The bass knob on your amp is bass presence.
The treble knob is treble presence.
The mid(or contour) knob is mid(or contour) presence.

i'm confused. in the ultimate settings thread, it lists bass, mid, treble, and presence as seperate settings

I've heard that with adding Presence you boost your high and middle frequencies.
=>Fender Highway 1 Stratocaster with Alnico V Holydiver Bare Knuckle bridge humbucker

=>40 Watt RMS Yorkville Traynor YCV-40 valve amplifier

=>30 Watt Tech 21 NYC - Trademark 30 solid amplifier

=>Dunlop GCB-95 Crybaby pedal

My amp has bass, mid, treble and presence knobs.

if you already have the amp, try turning the knobs full on or full off one at a time and listen for the difference.

If you look at the settings thread, a lot of musicians have their presence turned up relatively high.
