im getting sum preamps for my home studio and its a 8 preamp firewire interface. it has 2 phantom power controls, one sends phantom power to preamps 1-4 and the other 5-8, both can b on at the same time, and i was just wondering. if i had two condensers plugged into channels 3 and 4 and two dynamic mics plugged into 1 and 2, is there goin 2 b a problem with the dynamic mics when i turn on the phantom power?

thanks for any help

Yeah, they're well known for producing excess carbon monoxide gas, ensure you have one of these in your room at all times:

If you have a goody dynamic microphone it should not be affected by phantom power in any way, actually even crappier ones should be fine

It may be so you don't use as much power, cause phantom power is a lot of power, so then you can plug in condensers to channel 1 & 2, and have only 4 channels being run by phantom power, instead of having condensers plugged into 1 & 8 and having phantom power running through channels 1-8, I hope that made sense, if you need clarification i'll try and make it easier to explain.

the only thing you really have to worry about with phantom power is if you are using a ribbon mic (phantom power will ruin a ribbon mic)
