Hello,

Why do people say oil based finishes do not protect the body of the guitar well???

thank you

They are very thin and if you scratch it it will show alot easier then on a clearcoated guitar, on a clearcoated guitar the scratch will be on the clearcoat, but on the oil it will be on the guitar it self

Pretty much spot on. I have two wood coloured guitars; one clear coated and one with an oil finish and the oil one really does show scratches and small dings a lot better (although it's not exreme or anything).
You've read it, you can't un-read it!
