I was looking at some (not MGs, tube combos) and was wondering if there was some general consensus as to which was the best to get?
Gibson SG Standard
Dean Avalanche
Line 6 Spider II 30
Dunlop SW-95 Slash Wah

Velvet Revolver/Alice in Chains- 10/7/07
Foo Fighters - 1/17/08
Pearl Jam - 6/12/08
Stone Temple Pilots- 8/22/08

AVT is good, but cheap, but the best tube combos are in the JCM series, and the newest marshall flagship amp, the JVM

Ugh. Can you narrow it down? There is no best Marshall amp...but there IS a best one to get to suit your needs.

I spent a while with a JCM2000 DSL combo about a month or two ago. I liked it a lot. I could get just about any Marshall sound from it. Plexi, JCM800, you name it, it can probably do it. No, you don't get 4 channels with 3 modes like the JVM has, but who cares? It's much more user-friendly.

i personally found the jcms to sound tinny, undynamic, compressed, and just plain inferior compared to plexis.
