I need to get a new laptop, the one ive got is a few years old and i want the duo core thing. Is mac worth it? i need to

1) record music
2)play some hi spec games
3)do webcam stuff
4) general internet browse obviously

i can afford a mac but donno if a high spec pc is better
#3
A spec Pc usually beats out MAc with that kind of stuff.... except the recording part. Just depends on how much recording you actually need and how easy you want it. Mac is the way to go for creativity, PC is basically everything else to put it bluntly.

PC, though you're going to have a hard time finding a laptop at any reasonable price that can play games well.

PCs work just fine for recording, people only say Macs are better for it is because Garage Band comes free.

just remember, once you go mac you dont go back...honestly i hate using pcs now because they crash all the time...i havent shut down my mac for two months, and in that time ive updated and installed software...i honestly cant deal with the instability of a pc anymore

I have a macbook, very happy with it, but if gaming is something you do, stay PC, but make sure you stay with XP not vista, its a system sucker big time

edit: if not, Id say mac, i find the OS to be much more stable then even xp, dont have as many virus issues/spyware to deal with, people say they dont get viruses., but they do, im a computer tech..i see it, they are just way less frequent..if your searching the net, and recording, go mac for sure, they are such durable products as well, especially now with a Core 2 Duo in them, it flies..cheers

I'm running a computer with Windows XP sp2 and I've never had it crash once. The instability of pc is greatly exaggerated.

PC.
I love Pc's, and have honestly never liked macs, for whatever reason.
I agree with bubban too, I've only had It crash when I was deleting/moving/changing files I wasn't meant to mess with, stuff in the system32 folder.

PC means you can run just about anything, MAC you get a ton of cool crap and just about never crashes.
But im going to say install linux just to counterdict everyone

most people whose pc's crash don't know how to properly use them in the first place. macs make everything so much simpler for them. but besides the bundled software they're not that great, not as upgradeable, don't support many games, and if you truly love your craft then you won't mind paying for a more expensive recording program that'll work better than garage band.

MAC ftw!!!! It's soo much easier to use and much more ergonomic. Plus bill gates is the anti-christ

sounds like you're already biased torwards a mac. you're making reasons why a mac would be fine.

if you have other pc's for all your pc needs, get a mac.
best of both worlds.
best of horrible mundane life, and best of awesome pretty creative life

With the money you spend on a Mac, you can get a pretty decent PC if you know where to look and when to look.
#24
I would say get a mac in any situation except when you want to play games.

If you're a gamer, get a PC and a life.

Sounds like you should get a Gateway NX860XL. It's a "desktop replacement" and it has a 2ghz intel core 2 duo processor, 2gigs of ram, and a Nvidia GeForce 7900 card, which rocks it hard for gaming. DO IT.

I don't think your PC can handle your dumbassery anymore either. Only retards have their PCs crash on them. I've had zero software problems with my PC. I love it to death. Don't by a mac. You're not buying a computer, you're buying a "way of life". Mac users are edgy, stylish, on the go, simplistic. In short, retarded. That is to say, if you're not in a profession when the mac excels. Macs are good for Video Editing and Music Editing. Apple has the industry standard software for that so naturally you would need a Mac for that. Otherwise, you dropped a shit ton of money on something that's hardly superior to PCs.

The mac advertising campaign lately is complete shit. They tell you nothing about their product. They just do the hip and trendy thing, making you think, gee, I want to be hip and trendy too. You may not think it openly, but subconciously you're being drawn in. You have no idea why but you just want to try out that mac. When you finally do, however, you realize you're just using a more stylish PC with its fair share of problems.

So you would spend $1500 on a mac which has 1g less ram, smaller screen, and no dedicated graphics card???

You're not really computer savvy are you?

Have you ever run boot camp on a mac? I've heard running windows on a mac really kills performance.

If you want gaming, go PC, if you want easy recording, go mac.

Not when you have 2tb hard drive space with 2gb of ram. If you've only got 1gb ram or a small hard drive then sure, it might slow you down some.

Mine runs as smooth as any PC.

I hate Macs. Despite the "it just works" stuff, every mac I've owned or used was notorious for problems. They always froze up, hardware and/or software would randomly stop working, information would disappear, etc. Though PCs have their little quirks, they just seem to be more straightforward and easy to use to me.

I see this a lot on both sides. Mind, your post isn't nearly as biased as lots of others you'll see, but it seems like every side claims that the other side's software is harder to use/buggy/crashes a lot.

I personally prefer to run Mac. PCs are nice too, but I just like Macs better. If you prefer PC over Mac, then good for you. Just don't act as if your personal preference is universal fact (not referring specifically to you Cowboy, just in general).
