How do I record the audio that the computer itself is playing? When I had XP, I was always able to select a "CPU Speaker" option in the Recording section of the sound menu (or maybe it was "Stereo Speaker", something like that). But in Vista, when you click the sound icon in the bottom right, the only option is for volume - and not recording.

I found the microphone window via the control panel, but there are only two options - the built in mic and a port for a mic you can plug in.

How do I set it to record the audio that the computer itself is playing?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out...

Go to control panel, then click the audio options, go to recording or something like that.. Choose properties, recording options, it should have a list like SPDF/in, Line-in What you hear, Microphone etc..

Choose what you hear for recording or make sure it's not silenced..
I hope I helped. If not, I'm sorry
I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.
