I've put in an order for a new Peavey Milestone after searching around for something relatively good to start playing Bass with. Here it is

Now I need a Bass amp. Can anyone recommend something that would compliment this bass or would it be best if I just took the bass to the local guitar shop and tested out the amps there?

I don't know much about bass, or bass tone for that matter. I'm a guitar player, but my brother uses a Peavey amp, the Max 112 and I like the way it sounds.

Good for you. Have a cookie.

But really... there's no cookie. And if there was, you wouldn't get one.

300 isn't a lot to work with.

I'd say, save a few more dollars up, and spring for this Ampeg combo

Behringer is generally frowned upon. I have never used one for more than 10 minutes, but I hear that long term use wears them down a lot. Ampeg is a known and trusted brand, I can't think of many people who wouldn't recommend an Ampeg bass amp.
