Im planning to get a new guitar in a month or two's time... at the moment just have a squier strat.

my price range is about £300-350, could strech to 400 possibly though.

I was thinking of an epiphone of some sort, but im having trouble deciding, and thought i could get some recomendations to test out before buying.

Currently using a cube 15, soon could be using a Marshall 2x12 through a crate powerblock head... ideally upgrading to a decent marshall amp later.

Looking for a hard rock sound. Something with a nice crunch.

Influences include brand new, funeral for a friend, Feeder, Sugarcult, and Bloc party.

Most importantly i would like a sort of TDAGARIM album (brand new) sound...

Ibanez are nice hard rock guitars. Check out some ESPs as well, there are quite a few models by both brands in your price range that will be exactly what you're looking for. Your best bet: Go to a guitar shop and try out some axes.

For TDAGARIM, that's gonna be hard to catch it all. I read an article that they used something like 300 different guitars, pedals, and amps while recording.

Ibanez are pretty versatile though.

^^YES!!! Guitar World or some one had pictures of like half their effects and stuff it was insane i was in heaven looking at all those beautiful little pedals!

Anyhow, I have an Epi Les Paul that im not thrilled with, maybe better pickups would make it more fun to play. Deffinately check out some ibanez, esp, schecter, and even for used stuff you never know...

agreed. under about £500, assuming you don't need a trem, there really isn't much (unless you import) that can really touch it.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Thanks for the input guys. Current plan is to make a few visits to sound control and try some out, then theres the guitar show at NEC in birmingham in november which apparently has some nice prices so i plan on trying to find a good deal there. Failing that gak ofc is my friend.
