JB's are more for hard rock and heavy stuff, and imo, P-90's are good for Alt. and Indie stuff. A Tele or a Strat works well for Indie alot, but u rly dont need to buy another guitar just for Indie.

what's the guitar they're going into and what's your amp? EDIT: or have i misunderstood, and you're asking which guitar with which types of pickup you should buy for those tones?

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

If I was playing that I would definately go for the single coil they seem to be best for that type of music.

Fender Stratocaster MIM
Jackson DX10
Epiphone Les Paul Custom (neck: Seymour Duncan Jazz, Bridge: Seymour Duncan Distortion)

i was talking about just pickups. i was thinking about buying some cheap LP copy japanese made one from like the 80's and switching out the pickups. i have a valveking 112 if that helps.

on a side note: what about the p90s? does it sound heavier than single coils? i vary my music from time to time but mostly alternative, indie stuff.

Forget the JB and Jazz - you want something fairly straightforward...a pair of Duncan 59's would probably do it.

^ yeah.

p90's kinda sound halfway between fender-style single coils and humbuckers (but are still single coils, and hum). you can get humbucker-sized p90's, but i'm not sure if they sound as good as "real" p90's- i haven't tried any of the humbucker-sized versions.
