I have a cheap washburn lyon electric with i believe dual humbucking pickups. So basically that means that they are opposite polarity so that they cancel the hum created by only having 1 pickup? So is there anyway i can wire it so that only 1 coil is on so i can get that clean crisp single sound? Im pretty good with wiring and stuff but idk how they are wired, series or parallel? Preferably id like to wire in a switch to turn off the other side of the pickup.
It is possible to split the coils. A lot of guitars already have this feature, but you can do it yourself. What kind of pickups do you have? It should be possible to find some sort of diagram.

You should check out the building/customizing forum too, you might get more help there.
