hey im interested in getting a boss ds1, is it a good distortion pedal and can you get nice lead tones and thick chunky rytham out of it?? cheers

its pretty nice. even better if you mod it. You can get lead & rhythm sounds out of it, and it doesn't take too long either. For $80, I doubt theres anything better unless you want to import something.

Ds1's are only $40.


It's a good distortion pedal and gets fine lead and rhythm tones, just don't expect to get any subtly out of it. It only really does full on distortion.

$80 is what online stores sell for too. You struggle to get them much lower than that, especially at family owned stores.

Heh, I have a DS-1 from the 80s that I got for free, but I never use it, I can't stand BOSS overdrives/distortions.
