Just tried one out today, sounded mostly ok and I love the two volume controls so I can do the on/off thing like Tom Morello. Loved the tele shape, and my current guitar (which I'll keep) has a floyd rose, so I want another one that I can change the tunings.

At $550US it seems very tempting.

Any comments?

I've seen a few sites advertising these imported to the US and the UK so there might be someone that has one.

Generally you can't go wrong with a Japanese Fender. This is general advice, but you will get a quality guitar for what you pay.

thanks for the advice.

One of the reasons I'm looking into one is to play more funk. However this model has a humbucker for a neck pick up. Hmmm, will the middle pickup setting combining both neck and bridge sound ok for funk I wonder?

I visit a lot of Japanese guitar forums and I have yet to see a serious put-down of Fender Japan. The worst is that most replace the pickups and pots, but I own one and I am quite happy with it stock. Does need some shielding though.

I don't know what shielding is.

anyway, bought it and have hardly put it down since. feels great. not sure about how much I'll use the neck humbucker though.

Just updating this in case anyone does a search in the future.

Had the above guitar for about 6 weeks now and absolutely love it. Haven't gigged with it yet, but had it cranked in the rehearsal rooms and it's good to go. Feels great, looks awesome.

Just an update, I'm totally in love with this guitar still, but I've found (no surprise) that it's no good for heavy rock, too twangy.

i think this guitar would be a bit better for heavey stuff if you put a single-coil sized humbucker in it
