Hi everyone, getting a Tele next week, and I wanna make it look a bit more unique, so I'm thinking of putting a wood pickguard on it. First off, what wood would look best in your opinion? It's in midnight wine with a maple neck btw. Also, would I encounter any problems in putting a wood pickguard on? I'm gonna be making it myself as well, so is there anything i need to watch out for?

Thanks!!

make sure you get teh neck pocket right. that would be sexi. hmmm...idk what kinda wood. maybe rosewood. but if you put maple it would look like an extention to the neck. maybe a quilted maple dyed wine red. that could be sexii

By neck pocket, you mean get it to fit snugly round the neck with no gaps right? Yeh I was thinking maple but then I realised it would probably look crud... but with two different woods, and the colour of the guitar, its not gonna be overkill is it? :S

Don't really want to stain it, I was just gonna put a protective matt finish on it. The walnut will look good though I think, now I've looked at the guitar and pictured it on it. Thanks everyone!

Anyone know which wood is on the back of the neck in that pic?

That's pretty nice, but I think something with simpler wood grain would suit it better?

Yeh it is.. but I think the combination of such a dark hue and intricate wood patterns might be too much... I need the guitar and some wood to put side by side really ...

Yeah, all the pics of that colour don't show it properly. I'm getting from a local shop in the UK, that was just the best pic I could find :P:
