Hmmm.

So basically I have not posted in a long time.

Well now, I bring you....

KAUAN!

Basically, Kauan are Czech Blackened/folkened/doom metal along the lines of Agalloch....except a tad more creative(Imagaine that!). And while I am a huge Agalloch fan....these guys blow Agalloch right out of the water.....

Technicaly, the music is pretty complex. Nothing flashy, but still, very solid musicianship. Good production too.

Sounds like Agalloch mixed with Pink Floyd mixed with Stiny Plamenu mixed with Moonsorrow mixed with Swallow the Sun.

Anyhow....

There is Kauan-Limikuuro.

Enjoy.

Sorry for the huge bump, but I accidentally came across this thread whilst searching around the 'net for some Kauan tabs (there are none, as expected. This makes me sad ). I really think some people here who are into Agalloch and the like would really enjoy it.

Give 'em a go if you haven't heard 'em before. Here's their last.fm page: http://www.last.fm/music/Kauan

Thanks for bumping this, I like mucho.

This band is actually from Russia, important distinction

If anyone knows, is there any other notable Russian metal besides this, Temnozor, and Scald?

fans of Agalloch, Shape of Despair-- check this out pronto

Thanks for Forest Stream.

The other... D:

Four of their top myspace friends are KSE, KoRn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne, and they describe themselves as "Core'n'Roll". Yeah...

Another band I have an album by but haven't really listened to yet. Will definitely check them out later.

Will try them.

I gave this one a quick listen a while ago and didn't like it all too much. I'll probably give it another try one of these days.
#10
Glad to see this prompted some people to listen and wasn't a worthless bump

I've been listening to little else since I got the two cds a week or two ago.

Tvangeste is probably the best thing from Russia IMO
I like this, I'll have to listen again whilst high also.
If you see me in the pit, know that I'm only there because the metal forum is moving slowly.

How does that work? It would probably freak me the hell out more than Cynic did.

Tried Kauan a while ago.

This thread makes them sound good.

But what I heard was not.
All these comparisons make no sense now.

They're pretty good. Much prefer Lumikuuro to the second album, but even then, Lumikuuro isnt THAT good.

I know it's an old thread, but they are not Czech in any way shape or form.

Russkie, they are

and i love it!

Yeah, it's similar to their other albums, but without the heavier stuff, basically. Still excellent though.

Aava Tuulen Maa arrived in the mail today. Finally having this magnificent album in my hands is a wondrous feeling.

New song from Kuu... on the myspace. Haven't listened, will edit my post with thoughts.

edit: First half didn't do anything for me...the piano break in the middle was quite nice though, and the second half was slightly better...dunno, can't say I'm very impressed, but perhaps the album as a whole will be more enjoyable.

^ Probably not, for you. Unless you fancy listening to some somewhat folky somewhat ambient, somewhat post-rock music.

There is nothing remotely crushing about the last two minutes worth of the album.

That said, I think Kuu is my favorite Kauan release.

I don't really mind any of those three or mixtures of them - as long as the music captivates me.

Is it a more mature release, or just kinda a jumping too a more popular ship?

I would actually say Kuu is their most mature release. I suppose it feels like the culmination of their music to me. Like what Anton was trying to achieve all along, I guess.
