For English class, I have to write an extended definition essay (about 3 pages). I chose music for my topic. Sooo...

I could use some ideas
What does music mean to you?
What is music?
How has it affected you?
What else do you have to say about music?

Music can be anything and everything you want it to be,thats whats so wonderful about it.A song dosnt have to mean the same thing to everyone. Its powerful stuff, this magnificent thing called music.

the representation of everything your thinking and feeling in a specific momment.... you dont even need words to share that with whoever is listening... its just natural

Music is the song inside you that you can only express when playing an instrument. It can be anything, guitar drums table-top drums. It can be expressed by ANYONE.

Music is pleasant but not too important. Could live without it.

I couldn't live without it, I pass most of my days listening to and playing music so, hell no.

Music-a concept beyond what any human could truly intrepretate.

It's art, pretty much, trying to express oneself through melodies or maybe just making a pleasant noise. Iunno, I'm lazy, this is something you might have to think about while lying in bed for a long time.

Uh, that's very cool... for you.

I wasn't talking about you, or asking you if you could live without it, now was I? Now I am asking you a question: Why didn't you just answer the threadstarter without having to sound like a tool?

This guy says HELL NO! to living without music. Awesome!

Anyways, to back up my original though, music is just entertainment, like movies. We could live without movies. So to me, (let me put an emphasis on this, just in case Kiffa comes back to this thread), TO ME, music is entertainment, but not a necessity.

Music is transcendence. It's a mystery why a series of soundwaves should make us feel like dancing, singing along or headband like crazy. Music, whatever it is, is something that reaches into the very core of ourself and triggers emotions in us, and because music gives us these strong feelings, I think the music that you listen to reflect yourself as a human being in a way that no human can really explain. I also think there's a potential "ideal music", a piece of music that is the musical mirror image of yourself. Each person would have his/her own "ideal music", and we as musicians or music knowers will constantly want to get closer to this point.

There you go. That's the answer I was trying to come across.

Music is an escape. It makes you feel every emotion available. In my eyes, it is the epitimy(sp?) of life. Without it, I would be another drone.

A artform, A culture, A emotion or simply a beat you like to bob your head too.

Music means everything to me.

What does music mean to you?
Well, I don't really know how to answer this. It's most likely going to be my career, and it is the majority of my day's activities. It's really the only thing I am better at than most people I know. Everything else (video games, sports, etc.) I am absolutely horrrible in.
Quote by Kenster13
What is music?
The space between the notes.
Quote by Kenster13
How has it affected you?
It's given me a hobby, consumed hours of my day which would otherwise be boredom, hopefully it will give me a career, and it's something I enjoy listening to.
Quote by Kenster13
What else do you have to say about music?
Nothing that hasn't been said before.
