Hey.
I'm looking to buy a new guitar and amp, used for metalcore/Metal mainly.
(Iron Maiden, As I Lay Dying, and Job for a Cowboy mostly)

i have about 1k to spend.

I would prefer it new. although if the price difference is vast. used can be fine.

I play with a band. too.
so that needs to be taken into consideration.

Nothing big though.
a 75 watt 1x12 should take care of my needs.

Also, I dont have any pedals.
So if you believe I would need one to get proper distortion/Noise gate.
recommend one and include it in the price.

Thanks!

start by finding out the equipment that ur fav sounding guitarists use

id spend 600 on amp and rest on guitar

Check out Randalls, or if you're in the USA, take advantage of a B-52 AT100 halfstack or head, depending on how cheap you can get a cab, it's cheap as chips and absolutely amazing. Guitarwise, try the Jackson JS range and Schecters
ohai little sig.

Since you don't have enough to buy a halfstack I would recommend the next best thing, a Roland Cube, Which are about $300 .. That leaves you 700 for a guitar, I would recommend Schecter and ESP.
Schecter C-1 Hellraiser
Peavey 5150
Vader Cabinet 4x12
Roland Cube 30X
Line 6 Toneport UX1
Morley Bad Horsie II

hmm.
What if i kept my current amp...
(Fender FM 65R)
But ran it through a line 6 pocket pod to get an as i lay dying type sound out of it.

and then bought a cheaper guitar with passive humbuckers?

how much would my sound deteriorate.

(im jewish if you cant tell rofl.)

Get a Peavey JSX 212 combo, a Rocktron Prophesy Pre-Amp to tweak things a bit, and an ESP MH-400...that set-up would be good.

i also play metal, though im not in a band. but im only 15. for guitars, i have 3 in my diposal. my moms old strat, a really cheap ibanez, and an ESP Ax-400. the latter is amazing. it has a sleek shape, thin high speed neck, and amazing clarity. however, its $750-$800. the Ax-250, which looks the same, but heres a comparison:

Ax-400
mahogany
body; 3-piece
mahogany neck;
rosewood fingerboard;
EMG 81 active pickups

Ax-250
basswood body;
maple neck;
rosewood fingerboard;
EMG-HZ H-4 pickups

i havent played the 250, but im sure the feel is the same. for guitars, you cant go wrong with ESP. not the BEST quality, but for the price its way better. and your not paying for names since theyre kinda new.

as for amps, i use a hartke gt100. this thig literally shakes the chairs in my basement. and hartke transient attack 210 mudule speakers. i dont know the specs, but its about 1.5 feet deep, 2.5 across, and stacked, they are 2ft high.

in my opinion, you cant go wrong with either ESP or hartke

oh and i use a Boss Metal Zone MT-2 pedal. i wouldnt say its amazing, but for i think 50 bucks it gives you a heavy sound with minimal feedback buzz.

ESP Ax-400>MT-2>Hartke GT100 amp>transient attack 210 module
