If it's a Strat, you'll have to remove the entire pickguard. First, I would take measurements of the string height in relation to the pole pieces at both the high and low e strings. This will give you a reference point to getting the height adjustment on the new pickup. Usually, the change is as straightforward as unsoldering the old one then soldering in the new one.

Good luck with it. Most pickup manufacters as well as Fender have wiring diagrams if something turns out to be different.
