Hey guys. I went to a guitar store yesterday and I saw two Gibson SG Standards 1998 and 1996. They were going for $900. I played both of them, and I preferred the 1998 one. The guy said that he can lower the price for me. I was wondering what would be a good price for the guitar. It was great and had a nice thick tone, no dents, or anything like that. Only a couple very minor scratches... Should I get it?

The 1996's strap thingies were loose.

EDIT: I also played one of the most awesome guitars i will ever play... A 1966 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Reissue!!! It was so awesome I almost died! It went for $2400. I also played a 1957 Gibson Junior... which was really from the 50's... It went for $4200

800-850 is a good price for an SG standard. I have been scouring ebay and craigslist for them, and you only see them go for 800 really rarely.

I would say start with 800, and don't go over 850.

800 for the 1998? How much do you think the 1996 would go for?
