Alright, this morning my hard disk failed for the first time, it's been chugging a bit the past few weeks (as in lagging, then returning to normal speed)

I'm wondering if it's worth running a full system recovery now, or waiting till it stuffs out then buy a new harddisk, then doing a system recovery.

Also, any ideas on how much longer the hdd will last?

If it helps, it's about 4 years old, 40gb ultra DMA, at 5400 rpm i believe.
It's in an hp pavilion a210a.

Thanks in advance.

Just a normal pc.

And yeah, i know i'm gonna have to buy a new one, but i'm not exactly in a financially free situation, so i'm looking for a somewhat cheaper alternative for now.

Basically, I don't want to replace it unless I have to.
