NJ series are very nice. I've only played an NJ mockingbird but i'm sure the quality is the same for all shapes

That Virgin is aboslutely worth the $300, but if anyone offers more than $600 I'd let them have it. The coil tap and EMG/Seymour Duncan pickup combination is a winner. I don't like that guitar in white, but if you do, the guitar is very much worth it. B.C. Rich doesn't make guitars like they did in the '80s anymore. Now you can expect to replace the pots (volume and tone workings) within three years. That's all I've found that goes wrong with them on a regular basis, though. As Add666 said, the pickups by themselves are worth more than $300, though. Add coil taps and it's worth $500 if the wood is cheap.

Since you asked about the wood, my best guess at what the wood is, based on my knowledge of 1980's B.C. Rich (which isn't a whole hell of a lot, but it's something) would be that it's either Alder or Basswood. The modern N.J. Classic bich is made of Nato wood, which is a composite wood. Don't ask me how they did that. However, I don't think this was used by B.C. Rich until somewhere between 1998 and 2005. In a nutshell, being the NJ series, I would trust the wood to be at very least decent and worth it.

And all this is why I say, "Damn right it's worth it! ...if you like the guitar in white..."

it definitely is worth it

like goblin king said the pickups are nearly worth it alone

solid quality guitars

pick that up while you can, dude

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

It's pretty hideous IMO (but I like folk music, not metal mind you) but if you like it, go for it. At least give it a try. =)
I made you a cookie but I eated it.

Yeah definatley go for it Dude the emg's are worth at least 200 Plus the coil tap...so it's worth at LEAST a couple hundred more than it's listed for..
It's a good buy

it can also be an emg passive or am I wrong?

here in holland I can get a passive for around 80 euros so thats not really special I think

mate of mine has a esp with emg actives that thing is worth more than his car wich he drive's in. :P

My equipment is worth more than everything else I have put 2gether, but thats not saying much.

My friend who is a B.C. Rich fanatic says that the only good Rich's are custom shop or late 80's early 90's NJ series. Nagoya, Japan was the place that these where made. To me, better than the high end Ibanez's of the time and present. I used to have an N.J. Bich, and it was an amazing guitar, but just got sick of it.

BTW..........I love the Virgin shape, so get it.

That emg is a emg select (passive) not a real emg... pretty horrible pickup
still its worth the 300 i'd say

This is true, but I don't think it's a select in that guitar. I'm pretty sure you're getting an active EMG, but it might be worth asking. Even if it's a passive pickup, it'll do okay in the neck position and the guitar is still worth it.
#25
Storm Bringer, I'm pretty sure that awkward offset of the neck is a functional thing. While it does look funny, it makes for less lip to wrap your hand around when you play on the highest frets. It's a small improvement, but an improvement nonetheless on the original neck joint design.

I have a mockingbird from 1986, and it is heavier than my Schecter C-1 Exotic.

true that

my 85 ironbird is massively heavy as well

they bodies on those older bcr's are so thick
