i think on fitness, its completely opposite, but in terms of skill, i think soccer, definitely. all you have do in football is run and ram other people. but thats just me. i don't watch football

Over all, soccer takes more skill, becuase only some of the positions in football require alot of skill.

Yep. Plus in American Football they seem to have a rest every 10 seconds.

well done you got that one right, one is played with mostly the feet and one mostly with the hands but they are classed as skill

soccer players have a wider range of skills to learn.

football players are much better at the 1 or 2 skills each player focuses on comparatively.

these easiest way to see that...

look at football kickers...all they have to do is kick it through two poles from a long distance. soccer players have to worry about a whoollee lot of other things going on. however, if a football kicker missed as often and as badly as so may soccer players do when shooting on set plays...the kicker would not have a job.
#12
a rest every ten seconds is not as much as you think. soccer players move around a bit so their heart rates stay a bit up, but for a football players it goes up and down, not good. plus they've got like 30 pounds (im guessing) of protection on them, and some weigh twice as much as a soccer player so they get tired.

That's a fair point mate. To be fair I was looking for some lame reason to make soccer players sound fitter than football players because we don't get american football over here....

are you stupid? are you mentally competent? how about you memorize a playbook in addition to audibles. by your logic, soccer is doubly unskilled because they just run.

this is one of the most physically inferior players in the NFL in terms of size (5'6" that's shorter than my 13 year old sister). and look at what he can do:

Soccer requires more generalized athleticism. Football is more of a sport of precision, and, yes, technical skill than the other. So football.

Yep. Plus in American Football they seem to have a rest every 10 seconds.

And when they're not resting, they're running full bore, trying to push 300 pound people out of their way. Soccer players are moving all the time, but not at a full sprint except in certain situations. Whenever they do run football players are running at 100% by nessesity.

Not to knock on soccer players' fitness, but there is a reason for football player's resting, and it allows for, and is part of a different game.

i'd love to see a rugby player take john henderson in a fight. 6'7". 330 lbs of muscle ... well mostly muscle.

he's good at doing tricks with balls. i know a guy that can juggle five bowling pins, but he's not a professional bowler. i know a guy that can balance a bowling pin on his head too. his average is 120.

i can post videos of people doing stupid tricks, it doesn't make them good though. playing with a ball and being in a game is totally different:

hell yeah. they don't appreciate it as i said before though because laterals are common in rugby. i watched rugby the other day on some obscure ESPN channel and it was pretty cool but in no way did i find the people to be athletically superior to people in the NFL. the same at best.

amazing ...

also on amazing plays, the music city miracle is stupid. it shouldn't have counted. i do not say this out of bitterness that the titans later defeated the jaguars in the AFC championship. it was a forward pass. the same as jerry rice fumbled in the 98 NFC wild card game. refs back then were just stupid.

skill in football represnts ball control..video represents ball control. i thought modders were all knowing..do you not know who Maradona is?!? My grandmother knows who he is (but she cant 'juggle' like him)

"Soccer" players don't just run, football players just run too. A play? I memorized plays when I played football AND basketball, and it is simple as ****. Go this way or that way, if you get blocked, pass it.

In "soccer" it is extremely hard to have ball skills and get around a defender, and to curve the ball correctly. Ever wonder why Beckham and Van Persie and Ronaldinho are considered to great? The can manipulate the ball with one kick to go wherever they want it to. In football, you just throw in a straight line, and a spiral is not difficult to throw.

In football, you have to throw the ball through a "window" about the size of your abdomen or it gets intercepted. You also have about 2 seconds to get rid of the ball before you get crushed by 300 pounds of half-man-half-beast. Ever wonder why Favre, Marino, Brady, and Manning are great? Because they can read the defense in a split second, run through their options, and throw the ball through the "window" almost every play.

and when i played soccer for six years we just kicked the ball at other people up and down the field the whole time. apparently if youth sports are comparable to professional level, soccer is for women.

Forget the last play, that game would be up there even if Stanford had one, Elway's drive was that amazing. 4th and 17 on his own 13.

Rugby's sick. But not as impressive as football.

It is more popular because:
-The British invented it, so they spread it to their colonies.
-It is really easy for poor kids in developing countries to play. Not so much for football.

It really says nothing about the quality of the sport.

actually i'm fairly certain ADD kids would be more interested in soccer watching the ball go back and forth. you're the one complaining football is boring because it keeps starting and stopping so people can rest. that's one of the main gripes.

"wah. soccer has constant action, football is too staccato and the action is very short and plays have a lot of downtime."

soccer is checkers. football is chess.
