Do you mean the second track you record is half a second or so behind the first?

Something to do with latency but I don't know the specifics.

Just zoom in and delete the amount that it is behind.

I don't think you can, i itnhk you need a really low latency sound card and stuff to record over what's being played.

YOu could try exporting the track you want to record over, play it on windows media player or whatever, and record the new track on audacity over that, but the quality would be pretty bad and you'd still have to line the tracks up afterwards so they started at the same time.

Oh!

Give me a second, it's in the options somewhere.

EDIT:

Edit --> Preferences --> "Play other tracks while recording new one"

Just tick that box.

Export the lead line to mp3, give the track some lead in time, play it on another player, record the line you want on audacity over that, and it'll record both what you play and what's playing on the other player (it should). Forget what i said about lining up the tracks.. i'm just tired and confused. The quality wont be great that way, or you could just try using a metrenome.

EDIT - Yeah, i didnt notice the thing in preference... that's much easier than all the BS i suggested.
