Since around last week, I started getting the RUNDLL error whenever I logged onto my XP account. I'm unaware of the source, but I haven't experienced any major problems with my computer; the minor problem is that sometimes the upload button won't work on the image hosting website I go to... a simple browser restart fixes it.
But since yesterday, I started receiving a virus warning. As AVAST recommends, I move the virus to the chest (whatever the hell that does) and my computer is fine... Again, no problems, other than the regular problems I normally have, being my computer is the piece of shlt is it.
The avast pop-up says Morphine. This part is quite odd; I've had a hack for a game called Morphine. In fact, it's been on my hard drive for quite a long time. So, I've deleted all the hacks for that game. I'm not sure if the problem is solved, as I just did that a minute ago.
I'm not exactly sure where the virus would've come from otherwise. I haven't been visiting any risky sites OR LOOKING AT PORN or using limewire since this started happening. My dad could've done something stupid, or my brother, but the virus comes from my temp folder and my family uses their one separate accounts.
So... what do you guys think? I move the virus to the chest but it comes back when I log on. :S

NOTE: This all happens right when I log onto my XP account... not any later. The RUNDLL popup appears randomly in the middle of my session sometimes.

Yes,it happend on my old comuter, basically everything will seem normal, then your computer won't even turn on after a couple weeks.

You're Screwed.

Damn dude, you're screwed. I had a very similar problem and there is only one solution that works. Reformat.

CCleaner, Ad-Aware and Spybot did absolutely nothing to help me but try those first.

well you can always format your hard disk after saving al your things

I had a virus on my computer about 2 weeks ago i had to reinstall everything on it again it sucked big time.
#10
Man, I tried to safe mode virus scan once and the scanner wouldn't open because the skin wouldn't load. How GAY IS THAT?
Guess I should start backing up my data and write down programs I want to download after I reformat.
#11
alot of the time, reformat is the best way to go. If you have the recovery discs handy, it takes very little time to reformat and reinstall a fresh windows. If you try to pinpoint the problem and snipe it out, you could give yourself a huge headache.

Don't move the virus to chest. Just run a scan and then when anything comes up tell it to delete it.

it might seem like its not such a big deal but u might experince serious problems later like ur operating system wont work or ur pc will slow down because the virus is taking up too much of ur ram and it could also infrct ur system files. i recommend u download super anti spyware, its the best iv ever used. and just make sure that its not spyware because that can F*** u over quite bad. so download it and scan for spyware just to be safe.....

I would never get on the internet anymore without virus and spyware protection. My last computer got slower and slower and giving me weird messages and occasionally shuttingitself off and then one day the internet suddenly wouldn't turn on. And it was only a few years old too. On the plus side, now I have a laptop. But still, yea.
you got soul, or so you say. hey, i say you don't!

If you can download AVG antivirus. It's free and doesn't have any special skins that will keep it from loading

ccleaner does NOT remove virii or spyware...

anyway, download the latest updates to avast!, reboot, and start up in safe mode (as someone said above). run a full system virus scan. also, go to your temp folder (\documents and settings\[your user name]\local settings\temp) (make sure you can see \local settings\, it might be hidden). delete everything in there while in safe mode.

also, click start>run>msconfig. go to startup items, and anything that looks out of the normal uncheck. if you're not sure, don't uncheck it.

then restart.

avast! is roughly as good as avg. avast! gives more false warnings than avg, but catches roughly the same stuff and also offers the same features for free.

True but it deletes a LOT of files and one of which can be a virus. Anyway I don't see why that matters as I named two other programs as well and I don't see you disputing those.

try this website trenmicro.com and do a freescan it would either tell you what to do or it will erase virus for you.

and to me it doesnt seem like a virus it seems like something is broken it says the specified module cannot be found. did you erase any programs recently? installed anything when problem started?
