Why is Ac/Dc on there?

They're 80's rock

So is Guns and Roses....but I actually like them

"Heavy" and "Not Metal" are not mutually exclusive.
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me: no, nor woman neither... nor women neither.
#7
bogus.

the heaviest albums of all time all come from Black and Death Metal whether you like the music or not, its just the 2 heaviest genres of music out there and you cannot get any heavier then that.

Gutteral vocals, pig squeals, deep chuggin guitar parts, quick snare hits....the only possible way to get any heavier is to have a deep harmony orchestra added to death/black metal....which would be incredibly bad ass IMO.

megadeth isnt even heavy metal....how the hell are you gonna expect them to have one of the heaviest albums of all time? not saying i dont like megadeth or anything seeing as i <3 them and one of my fav. shows evar was when i saw them recently in Las Vegas at H.O.B. with The Confessions and In This Moment.....Megadave put on a badass show. (its only Dave keeping Megadeth alive, so everyone should be calling it Megadave n/e ways).

you and your futile knowledge of HEAVY SHIT lol.

im gonna go ahead and agree for now with the Gojira nomination until I can
possibly think of perhaps a Cradle of Filth or mebe a Job For A Cowboy album.....
idk...I do love heavy stuff.

actually, there's some really low, heavy Doom Metal, but in general, yeah not a single thing on there was death/black metal, Slayer and Sepultura were the closest

Mayhem and Napalm Death are the heaviest bands on there, and are pretty much the only bands on the list that actually deserve to have albums on a list of the heaviest albums of all time.

Slayer, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Mayhem, Pantera, Metallica and that's it... Kind of... odd.

edit: LULZ they spelled Marilyn wrong..

more edit: If the bands were being compared to people of their time, I can see why Sabbath/Venom are there, but the rest aren't even hard rock...

Yeah, Sabbath and Venom were both extremely heavy for their time. In fact, there's nothing like it today to compare to in heaviness, except drone or funeral doom and grind.
#32

What, no Crowbar?

And KC's Red is a great album but for God's sakes it is not very heavy. The first track was heavy by 1970's standards but the rest is pretty mellow. "Starless" is a slow, emotional saxophone and violin song, for chrissakes.

Who calls ACDC heavy when we have Death Metal? Stupid editors and their one genre hippie minds...

"Heavy" can be some of the softest music you've ever heard.

That's why I, at least, respected the fact that Miles Davis was on the list. Because he wrote some HEAVY stuff.

But, of course, "heavy" is completely subject to the person, so while I find any form of music heavy, no matter the content of the lyrics or the style of play, etc., many others will only see bands that use distortion and such "heavy".

I'm not saying I'm right and they're wrong, because, like I said, it's completely subject to the person, there IS no right and wrong.

That's just how I feel about it, though.

Oh, and that's not a very good list, IMO. A few gems, and some that I completely agree with, but, of course, I would make changes. Just like any other person.

You're criticising the editors (and presumably this list) for having "one genre hippie minds"... because they included bands that aren't death metal?

Oh, the hilarity.

FWIW I don't think the list is great either, but your reason for thinking that is just laughable.

I was thinking of doing something like that, now all I need is a full orchestra.
