Hi just wondering if anyone can hook me up with some weird and wonderful chord progressions for practicing and improvising modes, something unusual would be cool.
many thanks Carl

My favourite progression at the moment for practicing modes is this,
Am, Dm, Gmaj7, Cmaj7, Fmaj7, Bbmaj7, Bdim, E

It's the progression to "I will survive" and seriously rocks,
It changes key in weird places so it is cool for using a different mode for each chord and leading chromatically into the next mode,
Eg. A dorian over the Am ending on the F note to lead into the D Aeolian over the Dm ending on the 6th (B) to play the 3rd of the Gmaj7 chord and hold as the 7th over the Cmaj7 and so on.
If you are looking for nice progressions to play just take the chords belonging to whatever scale you want and mix them up.
Im a fan of the old jazz favourite, II, V, I so in the key of C you would get Dmin7, G7 and Cmaj7, great for nice tasteful solos!

If you are not sure on how to work out the chords for each scale PM me and I will gladly help out.
