I like Tiger Army alot now that they sound like Psychobilly + New Order.

Most Psycho bands are really boring and they all sound and look the same.

I've only seen 2 psychobilly bands before and enjoyed them both (the Phenomenauts are pretty great live), but I went to DKM last week with the Horrorpops and it was sold out. We went out back to see if any bands could help us get in (promoter cut off admission to about 100 people) and eventually a sympathetic roadie got us free passes.

Buttttt while waiting out back, definately heard an acoustic version of 'Who Killed the Cheerleader'. And it was pretty great.

umm mad marge is good...
i saw them live once in long beach..
my favs are calavera, black rose phantoms and a couple others..
i dont really know a lot about the genre just that a lot of them are really similair to each other but i guess people make the same arguement about punk.
the devil's brigade anyone?

Phenomenauts aren't really psychobilly. They're just radder than rad.

I like most all psychobilly.
Also, They dont ALL sound and look the same.
Compare Zombie ghost Train with Necromantix.
Not too many similarities other than and upright bass and hollowbody electric.
ya know?

In other news, I just finally heard the Meteors' version of Rawhide.

It's terrible. They miss half of the chord changes, the important ones too that make the song.

BTW, why do all of these bands seem to use full drum kits? That ain't billy.

^and why do most of the famous punk bands play instruments they bought themselves....that ain´t p0nx

I know, Brian May is punk. His guitar has worms living inside it... skullworms!

seriously, full acoustic drum kits in rockabilly / psychobilly is like acoustic drums in electro or brevity in prog rock.
#16
yeah i do agree.
full drum kits arent psycho.
I was not aware that there were actually quite a few people who like psycho here.
or rockabilly either.
cool man cool.

I love the Cramps.

STORY TIME!

So this girl I hang out with thinks she's a pretty big psycho fan. You know, she listens to the Hellcat psycho bands.

So I play the Cramps and she's all "what's this?" And I tell her "that's the Cramps. Some people call them the first psychobilly band." She then proceeds to say "Yeah I can tell I can hear the upright bass and everything."

The Cramps don't an upright bass. **** they don't even use a bass most of the time.

I laughed at her hard when she said that. I proceeded to explain to her that the Cramps don't use a bass on that album.

you justn have to explain to these kids that Tiger Army didn't invent psychobilly.
Journalism is just a gun. It's only got one bullet in it, but if you aim right, that's all you need. Aim it right, and you can blow a kneecap off the world.
#19
no but theyre exposing a lot of people to it.
that may be a good and bad thing depending on your point of view
#20
The Cramps don't like to be associated with psychobilly, from what I hear.

I loves them though.

Stripped down rock and roll plus stripped down drum kit equals formaula X.

his father build his guitar....that´s untr00

No, he did it and his dad helped him.

Bear in mind that he was a young lad, and this was before the days of www.projectguitar.com

I think you're being overly harsh.

I think we'd all be less dead inside if our daddies had helped up make guitars out of antique coffee tables as kids.

Also, the guitar is full of skullworms.

Which is pretty punk, because I discovered Skullworms' existence, and I'm the best punk here is.

Apart from Brian May, obviously.

PS.) Don't feel as though you got owned. Your facts were spot on, you just didn't fully understand the of them.

hey y'all.
I've been into some aspects of psychobilly for a long time, more emphasis on the 'billy' part though...
I recommend Twistin Tarantulas out of Detroit, their upright player is very, very incredible... also my local boys Hillbilly Casino for a slick sound.... for rawest god-father-of-psychobilly- sound check out one-man-band Hasil Adkins.
now go play.
