hmm, i dont know how well it handles metal, but i tried an orange amp at the shop once, and it was nice. i think it was a thunderverb or sumthing like that. It was pretty nice for hard rock, etc but im not sure on the price

the half stack in my sig.

nothing gets better then my stack with anything as long as you have proper pups for it anyway ^_^

was a $900 stack before tax though...so yeah...might try a VOX if thats out of your area, but it sounds in it since Carvin's aren't exactly cheap ^_^
OR get a Steve Vai Legacy Series stack or combo.
I hear that is good **** for all around stuff including blues.
never had a 1st hand experience myself though

of course it does [non-sarcastically]

off topic:

You, with a satchmo signature ibanez custom......through just a combo?!

the 6505 is pretty decent for blues as the mind numbing amount of gain you have can get a nice warm, clean sound. though its made for metal and hard rock.

Avoid modeling amps. They'll sound like crap with that GT-6. You should check out something like a Peavey Windsor and get an Ibanez TS9 to go with it to push it into higher gain territory if you don't want to use your GT-6. I would wait for the combo to come out, which should be around $600, but well worth it. I would look combo too, as you'll get more for your money. Halfstacks are only nice if you have the money for a head AND a good cab. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a great cab for cheap, but most of the time a good cab will run $350 upwards for a nice 4 x 12.
