So ive been trying to palm mute some fast riffs, and i realized that i can do it decent on single not riffs, but whenever i have to do real fast palm muting with powerchords, i just cant for whatever reason... here, ill show you exactly what i mean.

i just learned this today. its the riff in Unholy Confessions (ewww A7x! who cares.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
-0-0----------------------------------------------------------------------
-0-0--5---7---8---10---8---7h8p7-----------10-0-8-0-7~-------7-0-8-0------
-0-0----0---0---0----0---0-------10~--8-8---------------7-7----------10~--
PM- - - - - - - - - - -

now i can do it just fine, in time and everything.

but i was also trying to play this riff off Beast and the Harlot:

E/----------------/----------------/----------------/----------------/
B/----------------/----------------/----------------/----------------/
G/----------------/----------------/----------------/----------------/
D/----3-----5-----/6-----5-----3-5-/----3-----5---6-/----3-----5---6-/
A/----3-----5-----/6-----5-----3-5-/----3-----5---6-/----3-----5---6-/
D/00003-00005-0000/6-00005-00003-5-/00003-00005-006-/00003-00005-006-/

and i just couldnt move fast enough... im thinking its my technique... because my friend david does it and makes it look like a walk in the park, and im sitting here looking like im passing a ****ing kidney stone and it sounds like im hitting a cat with a baby...

anyone got any ideas?

Practice slower, at atleast half the tempo it is in the song. When you can do it flawlessly there, step up the tempo a bit, practice until you get it right, keep on doing that. Might take a while, but its the best method of getting it right.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to put it, along with your other advice, into a book, the pages of which I will then use to wipe my ass.
