my new valve junior half stack (ftw) didnt come with a speaker cable.... and i know its not recommended, i hooked it all up with one of my spare instrument cables... i got no sound...

i had the output in the right ohm jack....

whats my problem

do i NEED a speaker cable to get any sound? (im gonna get one anyway...)

an intrument cable should get sound. its jusy not reccomended because the sound is worse and it can somtime **** up the head or cab
#3
i think it can heat up the instrument cable. and the sound quality with the instrument cable wouldn't be too great either.

Don't use an instrument cable, it will fry your head. Wait for a speaker cable.

I got a brand new one laying around that I bought when I got a halfstack. I sold the halfstack like 1 week later so the cable literally got used for 1 day....

so, would the lack of sound be a result of me not having the right cable?

Or you having fried your head. Just go to your local store, spend $10 on a cable, and fix it. Instrument cable and speaker cable ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

He didn't fry his head, chill guys. Out of my noobieness, I unplugged my VJ head for about 10 seconds while it was on, and nothing happened. Make sure the cables are in all the way. Make sure that your volume is on. No killswitches flipped. Turn on, wait a min or two, then start turning it up. If it doesn't work I don't know.

Oh yeah, wait for the speaker cable.

uhh, use a different guitar, check instrument cable from guitar to amp, uhm... batteries if you have active pickups, volumes, let it warm up before hand... always the little things.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

That sounds like an issue. And fyi, they don't include speaker cables with them. Also, you can use instrument cables, as I did for awhile, but crank it and you run the risk of causing damage to the cable and head as instrument cables use a smaller gauge wire, and aren't meant to handle the "data" loads that an amp sends out.

i did let it warm up... but im not sure i did long enough now... i turned it on about a minute before i pulgged anything into it....

Always plug the speaker in before letting it warm up.
