Hey

A friend of mine wants to buy a amp he can use both for small gigs and practise. He's currently looking at the Orange Crush 30, A Line 6 30w and a Laney 30w amp. I've got no experience with these amps, so if you do or know of something better, let me know.
Thanks.

Neither.
I would say 50W SS for gigs.

orange are awesome amps... i wish i could afford one...

i dont know about the crush series though, ive never tested them...

the thirty is the one with the 12 inch speaker issnt it???

i would suggest laney though... probably best bang for the buck...

an epiphone vj half stack is nice

just bought one... seems to be loud enough, havent jammed with it with my band yet, but it sounds like itll get the job done...

They are solid state and overpriced. The reason orange amps are famous for tone and quality is because of their awesome tube amps. I would know, i have one. The crush series is just like any other solid state practice amp. It makes way more sense to get something like a valvetronix rather than an orange crush. Valvetronix have all those effects and are very versatile. Getting a solid state orange amp is like buying roller skates for a cripple.

Trust me.

Thanks. I'll tell him. The reason he's looking at the Orange is because he can get it on a special at about half the price of the Laney and Line 6. Coverted from our currency about $150. We'll go and have a look later today.

They're solid state. And any company that's famous for tube amps can't possibly also make a decent solid state product. -.-

No problem. Also, to let you know, any solid state amp that is less than 50 watts won't be fit for most gigs. Small 30-50 watt tube amps work best for small gigs.
Happy amp hunting

Quick q...How will the Crush 30 compare to most other solid state 30w amps?

IMO a Roland Cube 30 would be better. Effects, models, etc.

As the other guy said, Orange amps are only worth getting if they're tube. Starting with the Tiny Terror and upwards, basically.
