i was wondering if it's possible to put a passive pickup in a guitar that came with actives
i have a DKMG Dinky, it has EMG 81/85
i was thinking about taking out the bridge pickup and putting a Bill Lawrence in, would i be able to do this w/o having to make any major changes to the guitar?
Gear:
Jackson DKMG Dinky (EMG 81/85)
Ibanez GIO (i put a Dimbucker in the bridge)
Crate GT65 (65 watts) to be upgraded soon, suggestions welcome (must be tubed)
Floor Pod (for sale)

No it wouldn't

Your guitar has a single volume and tone circuit - seeing as passive humbuckers require 500k pots and the actives 25k you have a serious mismatch. You can get it to work with some serious arsing around with the wiring and general fannying about bit its' not really worth it. Even then you're still going to have a pain in the arse time trying to balance the output levels.

^dual gang pots with 500k and 25k??? lol.

i'd just pick either passive or active and stick with the one for both pickups.

ok thx guys, i was just wondering out of curiosity, cuz i love the sound of the 85 in the neck, but i'm not as crazy for the 81 in the bridge, so a duncan or a bill would be great for that, but since it would be alot, i wont do it on my jackson
maybe i'll try it on my ibanez GIO
