What key it is in or what tuning?

Just go E down 4 whole steps then that's what tuning it is in.

i'm sorry i've only played for 2 years and i never bothered to learn anything other than the standard tuning notes, then a friend showed me drop tuning and i went too far. i'm still clueless.

You're in whatever the key the song you're playing is in.

You ARE using either a baritone, seven string or heavy strings, right? If not, don't expect it to keep any semblance of harmony.

stay at around d, or c, if you're going to drop-tune.

too much, the lowest i've seen is drop C, wich is 2 whole steps down, and i think in drop A, your strings would rattle so much that its would be very hard to play something

It's not too low rofl, I know bands that play in G and F#.

yeah, maybe they use baritone guitars, but in a normal guitar, those dropped stuff would cause a rattling that would annoy most of the people

WTF, You've played for 2 Years and you don't know tunings...

yes i believe that is what i said, i play not study it passes time...

if your in A, then you shoul turn your machine heads until your guitar string starts getting higher. watch your tuner, and it will go to Bb,B,C,C#,D,Eb, then E. unless your tuner doesnt due odd ball tunings like C, then it will go A,B,D,E. problem solved?? also watch when your drop tuning, your low E should be 1 whole stpe lower than your A, ie.DADGBe instead of EADGBe. ok?

If you mean "Whole steps" as in Semitones, then you'd be in C
